In the creation of enamel jewellery glass particles are fused to prepared metal through multiple high temperature firings. True vitreous enamel - as used in this piece - is the beautiful fusion of fired glass with metal, resulting in a lustrous colour and an interesting glass coating that will never change or fade.
 
These earrings belong to my 'Impressions' collection. For this collection I developed a technique where I use a few layers of jewellery enamel as base coats, and I sprinkle enamel powder on top, allowing the enamel to 'draw' an interesting gritty pattern on the base layers. To achieve a more striking effect,  I also add a painterly stroke of enamel colour. This process guarantees that each item is unique and one of a kind.
